COURSE OVERVIEW: BUILD YOUR BRAND (AKA YOUR FUTURE SELF)
WHAT’S THIS MODULE ALL ABOUT?
In this module, you’ll:
😎 Crack the code of brands
Learn what a brand actually is (hint: it’s not just logos) and discover the difference between an employer brand and your personal brand — the stuff that helps you stand out when you’re stepping into work for the first time.
🪞 Figure out how people see you (and how you see yourself)
Explore your personal brand: what you think you’re like vs what other people think. You’ll use a simple tool to boost your self-awareness (no mind-reading required).
💬 Create your own “this is me” statement
Design your ideal brand statement and practise talking about yourself in a way that makes employers think:
“Wow. We need this person.”
🧩 Unlock your story with the LEAD Formula
Learn how to turn your life experiences (yes, even school ones) into powerful stories that answer the big question:
👉 Who am I and what drives me?
Master the art of talking about yourself (without it being awkward)
Practise answering “Who am I?” using stories — in conversations, a personal mantra, your CV, presentations, and interviews — in a way that’s confident, memorable, and very you.
HOW THE COURSE WORKS
This course runs in fortnightly mode (that’s every two weeks, not every fourteen minutes 😄).
Every two weeks, you will:
Take on a leadership challenge (solo or with your group)
Meet with your mentor for 40 minutes
Check in on your progress and see how far you’ve come
✨ No stressful exams.
✨ No surprise tests.
✨ You work at your own pace during each two-week block.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
🕒 Around 10 hours total
📆 Spread over 3 months
📚 Totally manageable, zero all-nighters required.
By the end of this course, you won’t just know what you want to do — you’ll know who you are, how to talk about it, and how to leave a lasting impression.
Is this course right for me?
This course is the first module of the REAPS Toolkit ( view BBC employees interpretation of REAPS). This module is called Raise The Bar.

If you are doing this course, we will assume you have completed ' Introduction To The LEAD Mindset - Increasing your willingness capability'

- anyone interested in preparing young people to get into the driving seat of their career and get into the act of leadership

Course structure
How this course is structured
- This course was purchased by your school.
- You must be selected by your school or college to gain access to this course
- The course is blended - this means you do some sessions face to face and some offline.
- During the offline sessions you can still communicate with your mentors or send us messages via the General discussion forum.
- Providing feedback and completing self-evaluations are essential in this course. We use your feedback to improve your LEAD experience and help you to grow as a leader. Self-evaluations are for your personal development.
Leadership Challenges & completion
Attached you will find a resource that outlines the knowledge you will gain and the leadership challenges.
To complete the course, you must complete all the leadership challenges. This course is experiential. This means no grades are awarded, you get out of the course what you put into it.
Completing the challenges
For every challenge we provide:
- challenge information labelled as LC (Leadership Challenge) followed by the challenge number.
- challenge task - what you have to complete as a LEADer group or individually
- Challenge learning check
In your team, everyone must take a turn to be the group leader for a challenge. That person will ensure everyone completes the challenge.
Once the activities are completed, you mark them as done.
Certificates
Once you have completed the course, you will be automatically awarded with a certificate.
Next Steps
Once you successfully complete this course, your school or academic institution may automatically enrol you to the next module in this LEAD journey - Example of Excellence.
